Serene Lakes & Donner Summit Neighborhood Profile
Boreal, Cisco Grove, Kingvale, Norden, PlaVada, Serene Lakes, Soda Springs, Sugar Bowl
Donner Summit is an area west of Truckee, outside of Truckee town limits, at approximately 6800’ in elevation. The actual elevation of Donner Summit is over 7200’ in elevation. There are several ski resorts located in this area including Sugar Bowl, Boreal, Donner Ski Ranch and Soda Springs. Royal Gorge Cross Country Ski Area, located in Soda Springs, is the largest cross-country ski facility in North America. Most of the homes in the neighborhoods in this area are 2nd homes although there is a community of year-round residents.
Kings Beach Area Neighborhood Profile
Brockway, Brockway Vista, Kingswood Estates, Kingswood West, Wood Vista, Lake Vista
These communities are in the North Lake Tahoe area in the area around Lake Tahoe close to Hwy 267. Hwy 267 connects to I-80 making this area very accessible and an easy drive to and from Truckee. The homes in these areas are close to dining and shopping in Kings Beach and around Lake Tahoe. The Brockway community is a very small area that includes the Brockway Springs Estates, site of the famous Brockway Hot Springs Resort Hotel, which is a gated lakefront community of 20 home sites on 20 acres. The Estates also include a variety of amenities. The Kingswood Estates and Kingswood West communities are located off of Highway 267 and have homes in treed, quiet settings with some lake views. Wood Vista is a small community of homes, which is gradually upgrading, and is located near or on Old Brockway Golf Course in Kings Beach.
Tahoe Estates, Tahoe Vista, Tahoe Marina Estates
The Tahoe Vista area is between the Kings Beach and Carnelian Bay areas of north Lake Tahoe. The community of Tahoe Vista is a level neighborhood of mixed older cabins and newer homes that are within a walking distance of a public beach, marina, and restaurants. The Tahoe Estates community is north of Tahoe Vista and consists of a potpourri of very nice homes, older cabins, and some homes with spectacular lake views. Tahoe Marina Estates is a secluded area that’s very accessible to dining and shopping. It is a very quiet area with many lake view homes.
Donner Lake Neighborhood Profile
Donner Lake is an Alpine Lake located at 6000’ in elevation. It is 3 miles long, _ mile wide, and 200 feet deep. The West End beach is a public beach at the west end of the lake and has lifeguards, tennis courts, basketball courts, sand volleyball courts, a snack bar, barbecues and playground equipment. Donner Lake homeowners can purchase a season pass or pay a daily fee to use the beach facilities. Donner Lake also offers several public docks for summer recreation. Lakefront and lake view homes and lots are sometimes available in this area. In addition to the homes in the quaint communities around the lake there are also a few newer subdivisions of homes in this area.
Glenshire & Cambridge Neighborhood Profile
Glenshire
The Glenshire and Devonshire communities are located about 6 miles east of downtown Truckee, and 28 miles west of Reno, NV. This area is populated mostly by full-time residents and has very limited tourist traffic. The lots range in size from 1/4 acre to 1 acre. Amenities offered include a swimming pool, clubhouse, and tennis courts. Throughout the communities there are some equestrian and recreation easements which allow residents to partake in outdoor activities right outside their back doors. There is a convenience store, preschool, ballet studio, and elementary school in the area; making it ideal for families with younger children. The Boca and Stampede Reservoirs are located close by and attract boating, fishing and water sport enthusiasts. This area of Truckee is known as the “Banana Belt” because of its low snow volume.
Cambridge Estates
This planned community is located in the Glenshire area, 6 miles east of Truckee, and was built in four phases. Many exquisite homes have been built and some have beautiful views of the mountain ranges. The lots are approximately 1 acre in size.
Gray’s Crossing Neighborhood Profile
Gray’s Crossing is a new community, located off I-80 and Hwy 89 North, that is being developed over the next few years. The community will include single family homes, cottages, studio flats, condominiums, duplexes and other attached style housing. It will feature a private Peter Jacobsen designed championship golf course, a clubhouse, more than 400 acres of open space, a neighborhood village, a small inn or lodge, and public hiking and biking trails. Phase 1, “The Bluffs”, is currently under development with properties now becoming available for the resale market. Homesites will soon become available for sale in the additional Phases.
